Taco Seasoning

Looking for an easy way to add some flavour to meats, vegetables, sauces or dips? Look no further than this quick and easy recipe for homemade taco seasoning!

Ingredients (makes approx. 8-10 tbsp):

¼ cup chili powder

2 tablespoons ground cumin

2 teaspoons paprika

1 teaspoon crushed chili pepper flakes

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

Directions:

Combine all herbs and spices and mix well.

I use between 1-2 tablespoons per 1lb of meat or vegetables (depending on how spicy I want a particular dish) and have used it as a rub, a marinade and flavouring for a multitude of dishes. You can also mix it in sauces and dips – start with ½ tsp per ½ cup of sauce/dip and adjust to taste.

If stored in an airtight container at room temperature, this seasoning will keep for up to 2 years.

      1. Interesting ! So I could probably use it for chicken tacos too! The homemade seasoning may give it more flavor! Hey and my pleasure!

  1. Nice! I needed this. We love our tacos and it always drives me crazy not knowing what’s in the seasoning packs. I’ll have to get the powders! Do you think it’s okay if we skip the oregano though?
