Words of wisdom and shared knowledge can often refocus our attention on taking care of our emotional well-being. No matter what we’re working through or looking to heal from, sometimes we might need a little help or motivation.

We’re very fortunate that so many people have gifted us their life experiences, education, activism and kindness. The words they have chosen to share with the world can be a source of encouragement and guidance that sees us through some of our own challenges.
Here are 5 quotes that might help remind you to take care of your emotional health …

None of us is perfect. We all need to grow and work towards positive change in our lives, but as we do this — in order to thrive as we develop — love shouldn’t be dependent on our successes or restricted to certain milestones. Love is not a reward; it’s a movement that we’re actively a part of. It’s reciprocity that stands as firm at our worst — our most raw — as it does at our best.

If we begin to evolve and heal from a place of understanding and empathy — that’s rooted in a willingness to learn and acknowledge what we need to do in order to flourish — then we can tackle anything that helps us build something better. We must be able to have an open and honest dialogue with ourselves and with the important people in our lives.

Sometimes just speaking about what is causing us pain is the simplest way we can lessen its power. Keep communicating, don’t be silenced, don’t let what burdens you trick you into thinking you should remain quiet. Keep talking, keep being honest and truthful about what you need so that you are heard and can feel lighter with every breath.

Never let someone else tell you who they think you should be or what value it is that you have. Hold your space, own your voice and recognize what you’ve overcome to get to where you are now. Don’t be afraid to show people that you know who you are.

Occasionally in life we will stumble and fall, we may even lose our way for a time. There will be moments where we need to pick ourselves up and start over again or where we question the validity of our purpose and path. In any of these situations, it’s important that we remind ourselves that we can be our own reason why. Remind yourself that you are enough.

Very powerful quotes. I’ve been trying to speak up about my pain. As I tend to hold it in. Which I know isn’t a good thing at all. Great post idea too!

I’m glad they resonated with you — and I think expressing our pain, as long as it’s safe for us to do so and under our own terms, is such an important part of healing. I hold mine in too sometimes so I get what you’re saying!

My favourite is the one about the definers. I truly felt that as someone who hates to be defined by others’ narrow-minded views.

Agreed! I think those who define others (and think they have the right to do so) are just being judgmental and try and justify it. I have no time for that!

These are all lovely quotes! I like the quote by Mr. Rogers the best. Funny that it wasn’t until I was an adult that I came to appreciate the wisdom of Mr. Rogers!
Excellent mental health resources at the end, thanks for including those.

I’m fairly new to Mr. Rogers as I only really heard/read/watched anything with him in it since I moved to the U.S. 7 years ago. His wisdom and kindness is incredible so I just had to include one of his quotes.
Thank you so much for reading!

Beautiful quotes. I love all of them but my favourite is the one about you being the reason for you to get better. I agree with that so much. Each of us are destined for so much more than darkness and pain and the hope of better days filled with happiness and love and success are the reason we should try to get better !
Great post !
