When Change Comes: Beginning Again (Poem)

A new year that’s ushered in with a countdown to midnight can often represent an opportunity to begin again, set some goals and hope for better. There’s something intrinsically uplifting about the resetting of a calendar that hints at a second chance for us all.

And while the start of 2021 is as good a time as any to change our mindset and work towards growth, creation and reestablishing our journey — new beginnings are not limited to set moments in a year. Each morning is a fresh start, every hour an opportunity to mentally refocus, even one second from the next can determine a transformation.

A poem by Molly from Transatlantic Notes called, ’When Change Comes’ that reads: New Beginnings and fresh starts don’t need midnight to prevail. A renewed shift blossoms when you decide to exhale.

We can all be better if we choose to do better. New knowledge and experience will continuously enrich our lives and help us rise up with each and every choice we make. We mustn’t worry if our resolutions fall, our goals seem distant or life takes an unforeseen turn that tests our courage, we can bloom in ways we may not have realised were possible.

I’m wishing everyone a Happy New Year, I hope it is better for all of us and that we all make moves in 2021 that fill our lives with joy, love, happiness and purpose.

What are hopes for the New Year?

  1. What a motivating poem! I’m so guilty of waiting for the next week, next month but then nothing actually ever changes. I need to be motivated enough to make the change there and then, rather than waiting!

  2. I love your words, though the micropoem said it best for me! Every day is a chance to learn from the mistakes and appreciate the lessons of the past. My day-to-day affirmations and goals change with each dawn. 🙂

  4. Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem. I have learned not to stress over my resolutions and goals as well. These days, I prefer to inject some serendipity into my approach to most things. You just never know what life hurls at you, and honestly? Things do not always go according to plan, and that’s alright. I tend to revisit my goals and tweak them accordingly instead!

  6. I love your poem. It is so true that you can begin again at any time. And I also loved where you wrote “Each morning is a fresh start, every hour an opportunity to mentally refocus, even one second from the next can determine a transformation.” Might need to post this quote somewhere at home for inspiration.

  7. I love the feeling of a new year. A fresh start full of opportunities and hope. 2020 was an extremely horrible year. Just hoping the latter part of this year will be better. Thank you for sharing. Lauren.
