Sometimes we need a little reminder to pause, reconnect, and allow ourselves to create a moment of inner peace that nurtures and enhances our well-being.
When was the last time you took a mindful moment? A quiet few minutes to close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and emotionally ground yourself. If you are anything like me, with other things occupying your mind, it’s probably not as regular an occurrence as it should be.
But making some time to slow down, relax our bodies, and calm our minds can be enormously beneficial for our mental health. Whether it’s five minutes a day or as often as can be realistically managed, spending uninterrupted moments to reaffirm boundaries, express words of affirmation, or show ourselves some compassion can help to reduce stress, lower anxiety levels, enhance our mood, and improve focus.
Connecting with ourselves emotionally is a vital aspect of self-care. We cannot build resilience to cope with difficult situations or feelings if we do not allow ourselves the chance to process them in a healthy way. Cultivating self-awareness, where we pay attention to our emotional state without judgement, means we can find strategies to encourage kindness towards ourselves every single day—not just during difficult times.

Setting aside regular moments for reflection and helping to reaffirm our emotional boundaries and needs fosters a deeper sense of well-being and balance in our lives. It’s a way to introduce an inner advocate to tackle our inner critic, or just show ourselves some love that keeps us going.
Building up emotional adaptability and perseverance are tools we can use to handle future challenges with greater ease and confidence. This kind of fortitude enables us to navigate changes, uncertainties, or any other type of issue without potentially becoming overwhelmed (but also being able to deal with it effectively if we do).
By developing a strong emotional foundation, we can manage stress more effectively, maintaining mental clarity and focus during harder times. Emotional resilience also enhances our problem-solving skills, allowing us to approach setbacks with a positive, solution-orientated mindset. Moreover, a resilient mindset aids in quicker recovery from emotional setbacks, reducing the impact of negative experiences.
Sitting quietly for a few minutes, deep breathing, and repeating positive affirmations will not magically create emotional stability—doing so takes time and effort. However, a regular routine of mindful moments like this is one way to work towards that goal.
Welcoming calm and implementing consistent rituals that prioritise self-compassion will nourish the potential for improving and strengthening our emotional well-being and mental health. This poem will hopefully serve as a reminder to anyone reading to take a little time today to practice some uplifting, reflective, and emotionally-reinforcing self-care.
How do you emotionally ground yourself? What are some of the ways you build emotional resilience?

Thank you so much! It was a great experience putting this poem together from my thoughts.
This is such an important reminder, and I really appreciate you bringing it up. In our busy lives, it’s easy to forget to take those mindful moments that can make such a difference in our well-being. Pausing for a few deep breaths and grounding ourselves is so beneficial, yet often overlooked. Thanks for encouraging us all to make this a more regular practice—it’s a simple but powerful way to care for ourselves.
It is so simple, but so highly effective at giving us a chance to reset ourselves a bit. I know I need this from time to time, and it is so helpful at giving me an opportunity to be a bit more mindful. Thanks so much for reading!
Love this short poetry. So true… life needs break. There are days I want to be lazy. Hehehe ^_^
Thank you! I agree; life can sometimes need to slow down a bit (lazy is good when it helps us rest, haha)!
I love this! Simple and beautiful.
Thank you so much for reading!
A great, uplifting poem for focusing on uplifting your energy x

Thank you; I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I love the “gentle touch of quiet”, that’s such an evocative phrase. Actually, I’ve just come back from 2 weeks holiday, so I’m feeling pretty relaxed right now!
Holidays can be a great way to reset and get some relaxation in, definitely recommend!
Beautifully written poem, Molly. This is so touching and it’s a great reminder to slow down and enjoy the present moment. Even though I take a few moments each morning and night to ground myself, I can still find myself forgetting to do so during the day when it gets hectic. Thank you for sharing!
I had hoped this would be a nice little poetic reminder to anyone who needs it. I know I forget to ground myself sometimes, and it’s always much-needed!
