Every so often, the loudest voices around us are the ones that sow division; seeking to silence, outcast or censor people and perspectives that expand our knowledge, awareness and acceptance of others (or ourselves).
Life has been rather hectic lately, a significant upheaval is on the way for me personally; which, if things actually turn out as we hope, my husband and I will see a marked improvement in our lifestyle and general mental well-being. I'm choosing to focus on the possibilities of these advancements coming to fruition; and what's encouraging me to remain focused and optimistic are a collection of quotes.
The theme of Black History Month in the U.S. this year focuses on 'health and wellness'; a chance to celebrate and educate about the sacrifices, innovations and contributions of those who have made a difference in all our lives. This includes the writers, poets and storytellers who share their words of truth, guidance and love with the world.
When we go through challenges and changes, and set the pieces of ourselves back together, we have the opportunity to emerge as a transformed version of ourselves. Learning new ways of being takes time, care and understanding; if we are to heal and move forward, we should nourish and celebrate how we are evolving.
An abundant life is one fueled by the nourishment of our mental, emotional and physical well-being. It's establishing that love, intentional joy and purpose doesn't solely come from who or what we surround ourselves with; it's the inner work that cares for our needs when we experience the ups and downs, successes and struggles that life typically cycles through.
The seasons and cycles of nature serve as a reminder that growth, rejuvenation and new beginnings will continue to arrive, blossom and bloom. It reveals to us that despite challenges and hardships, we can use the change we experience to emerge renewed; sometimes in ways we may not anticipate.
